OUR
STORY
We know that our house, built in 1910, was originally the residence of the nuns belonging to the Servants of Mary congregation. The neighboring house served as a domestic school where the nuns taught young girls from the village and surrounding areas skills related to household management, as well as various professional competencies: laundry, ironing, mending clothes, cooking and table service, personal and business accounting, crochet, knitting, embroidery, netting, and basic hygiene and childcare.
Around the 1950s, the property was sold to a family from Soule, who divided the house into two parts. Several owners followed and around 2016 or 2017, the right side of the house began operating as a guesthouse, receiving the name "Le Petit Couvent," given by an English owner named Lyn.
In August 2019, Nikki and Andrew added their personal touch before we acquired the property in June 2021. Since then, we have continued to offer this guesthouse service to all those wishing to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the Basque countryside.
Our house combines the charm of yesteryear with modern amenities to offer our visitors a unique and warm experience. Every corner retains its historic character, while the rooms are furnished with elegant décor and exceptional comfort. Located in a peaceful and picturesque setting, our house is the ideal retreat for those seeking rest, culture, and conviviality.
